A GROUP of carers who look after people living with dementia have helped to launch a weekly Walk for the Mind in Bradford on Avon.

The new group forms part of Wiltshire Council’s Get Wiltshire Walking project which encourages good health and exercise by arranging regular rambles all around the county.

John Thomson, Wiltshire Council’s cabinet member for leisure; Louise Gale, Get Wiltshire Walking co-ordinator; Heather Moody, volunteer walk leader and carers took part.

The new venture was launched with a walk which started from Bradford on Avon Library at 2pm on Monday.

It will continue at the same time from the same place every Monday except for Bank Holidays.

A Wiltshire Council spokesman said: “The gentle walks will last between 30-45 minutes, led by volunteers who have attended dementia awareness training.

“After the walks, the group will visit a café for a cuppa and a chat.”
