STAFF at County Hall in Trowbridge have had to contend with high temperatures in and out of work as the building has had troubles with its air cooling system.

Staff that are located in the upper floors of the atrium at the Bythesea Road building have had to deal with high temperatures for some weeks now due to air cooling issues.

Whilst the council has tried to fix the system, staff have been allowed to work from home as it became too hot to work there.

However the authority now says the problem has been solved and has apologised.

A Wiltshire Council spokesman said: “We support our staff and are grateful to them for their patience while the issue is addressed during this unusually long hot spell.

“We have a team of engineers working on the system and staff are regularly updated on how this is progressing and offered support and advice.

“We have offered staff alternative working arrangements including working from home and flexibility to work in cooler parts of the building.

“The building is now considerably cooler following action already taken and we do not envisage a repeat of this mechanical failure in future.”
