A 39-year-old man from Melksham was arrested for being abusive towards police and possessing a pointed article in a public place in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police received a call about a troublesome man in Melksham town centre at 1.15am.
Terrence Johnson, of Market Place, was arrested soon afterwards for his abusive and threatening ways.
Johnson has been bailed to attend Salisbury Magistrates Court on July 27.
