IMAGINE a city where the law no longer works.

The law makers have lost control and crime is at an all time high.

Sounds familiar? The Duke hands over power to his deputy to re-establish order. The deputy begins to take back control of the city by making sure the law is followed to the letter.

However, power corrupts and the deputy uses his new found position not only to restore law and order but to force himself on an innocent young woman.

Meanwhile the Duke has not really left the city but, in disguise, he watches to see what his deputy will do.

Will the young woman succumb or will she protect her body in the face of intolerable pressure? Come and find out at the Glove Factory in Holt when Holt Dramatic Society take on this classic.

Shakespeare wrote this play more than 400 years ago and it is as relevant today as it was then. Have we learnt nothing?
