YEAR 6 pupils at Newtown Primary went out on a high from the Trowbridge school after performing a cowboy musical together.

For the past month, pupils and staff have been preparing for their end of year show, Ye-Ha, a musical about a group of bandits who are running riot in the fictitious place of Splodge City in the Wild West.

Assistant headteacher, Anneka Fisher, was delighted with how the pupils worked together to get the job done in style.

"They should all be very proud of themselves for how the performed and worked together as a team - I am certainly very proud of them," she said.

"This is the perfect send off for our Year 6 pupils, who loved getting stuck into this one.

"We got together last month and they all decided they wanted to something on cowboys. We adapted some songs but the children made up their own dance routines.

"All of them did a great job as it can be very nerve wracking performing on stage for the first time. Three of them even did solos.

"I want to thank everyone who took part and to teaching assistant Andrea King and Sue Hornby for helping with the costumes."
