TWO music festivals in Melksham have been hailed as a fantastic success after thousands of people turned out for ParkFest on Friday and the Party in the Park on Saturday.

Organiser, Bruce Burry said: “They were fantastic events. Everything went off without a hitch and we had no major problems at all.

“The warm weather brought out thousands of people and we’re really happy with the attendance. It was all very good natured and people were able to enjoy some fantastic bands and music.”

Melksham’s mayor, Cllr Adrienne Westbrook, said: “

“There were thousands of people in the park enjoying the music and the entertainment that was on offer. The Bootleg Bee Gees and the fireworks finale were fantastic.”

The Bootleg Bee Gees, the number one tribute to the legendary Bee Gees, headlined this year’s Party in the Park, with the Oasis Experience headlining the ParkFest on Friday evening supported by local band, Local Heroes.

The trio ran through the back catalogue of songs by Barry, Maurice and Robin Gibb, including those made famous by Diana Ross, Frank Valli, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.

They topped a bill including Sackful of Sovereigns, Sultans of Swingers, the local PSG Choir, Mother Pluckers, Sarah Deer, Innes Sibun and Stoned F.

Other entertainment included displays by the In2Dance group, a BMX MAD Stunt Bike show, fairground rides for children, ferrets from Ferret World, and parrots from Problem Parrot Welfare.

Children also had fun on a bungee trampoline, while families were able to watch New Male Majorettes, martial arts and gymnastic displays.
