ORGANISERS of the Bradford on Avon Cycling Festival have thanked the local community for making the event such a huge success.

Charlotte Forrester, of the Westview Day Nursery, who helped to run the two-day event, said: “We’d like to say a huge thanks to everyone who moved heaven and earth to make a community event like this happen.

“The Bradford on Avon Cycling Festival saw over 420 cyclists over the weekend, with 156 riders being under 16.

“From the Hill Climb to the Sportives and the Family Trail and Toddle, we saw plenty of grit, sweat and only a few tears!”

She added: “It takes a huge amount of effort to put on an event of this scale but we were able to do this because of the wonderful local volunteers, especially the community event volunteers of Bradford on Avon, and sporting enthusiasts meant we could deliver such a good event for so many people.

”We bought 800 people to Bradford on Avon over the weekend, and although difficult to measure, this influx of people to the town ensures we are showing off our beautiful and dynamic town to people in the wider communities, drawing them back in at a later date.

“We couldn’t put on an event like this with out the help and support of our sponsors - Varn Digital Marketing, TT Cycles, AB Dynamics, Jones Hill Financial Advisers and Moulton Bicycles.

“We’d also like to thank the wonderful marshals and members of the community who supported the festival all weekend keeping you all safe.

“We very much hope to run a similar event in 2019 and thank everyone who took part for their support.”
