THOUSANDS of people are expected to line the streets of Melksham for this year’s carnival and family fun day, which takes place tomorrow.

Organisers are hoping to attract a bumper crowd to watch the annual procession and take part in the wide range of activities and entertainment on offer.

Spokesman Andy York said: “Every year, the carnival and fun day is the biggest event in the Melksham town calendar. It brings the whole town together and is loved by so many people.”

The junior Melksham Carnival Royalty are Sidney Birch, Butterfly Princess; Emily Vivian, Fairy Princess, and Henry Alford is the Page.

The procession starts at 5.30pm from the Cooper-Avon car park and will take in Bath Road, Bank Street, Lowbourne, Ruskin Avenue, Pembroke Road, Coronation Road, Spa Road and the High Street before returning to the Cooper-Avon car park via Bank Street and Bath Road.
