THE school year at Castle Mead ended on a high as hundreds of pupils and staff enjoyed a family walk and picnic.

The masses walked around Biss Woods before coming back to the Trowbridge school for a picnic.

Along with some pupils who were leaving the school for good, children who will join Castle Mead in September were also present on the day.

School business manager, Mel Jacob, said: “The family walk and picnic was a great success with a fabulous turnout.

“I remember seeing a huge line, stretching a very long way, of very happy people.

“It was a great way to end the year and also welcome some children who will join us soon.

“We did a walk for Children in Need earlier this year and the response was so great we decided to do another walk as our end of year celebration.

“Also, we are looking for school governors and community volunteers to get involved in developing our school over the next few years.”
