A Wiltshire Police call handler who raised more than £10,000 for Guide Dogs for the Blind has been able to name one of the puppies in training.

Anthony Bristowe, 61, of Bradford on Avon, works in the police 999 and 101 Crime & Communications Centre at Devizes.

His existing guide dog, called Nimmo, is an eight-year-old black Labrador.

Mr Bristow completed a 250-mile tandem cycle ride from Land’s End to Bradford on Avon last October with his friend Simon Taylor from Warminster.

The money raised from the six-day ride was put towards the £10,000 cost of a new guide dog, a yellow Labrador which Mr Bristowe has also named Nimmo.

Mr Bristowe met the new Nimmo at the force headquarters in Devizes when he and his puppy walkers Joady and Martin Mitchell from Bath called in to say hello.

He said: “We were thrilled to meet puppy Nimmo being sponsored through Guide Dogs for the Blind.”

Mr Mitchell is a retired Superintendent from the Metropolitan Police in London.
