THE last big event in preparation for the Trowbridge Carnival takes place on Saturday, with the annual country fair, boot sale and dog show.

More than 1,000 people went to the Trowbridge Park event last year and organisers hope for an excellent turnout again, with dozens of stalls, music, dance groups, fair rides and inflatables on offer as part of a jam-packed day.

The boot sale gets underway from 8am at the park, with set-up starting at 7.30am, and the fair gets underway at 10am.

Carnival committee member, Maryrose Mantle, said this event is just one of many exciting days that the committee has in store ahead of the carnival on October 20.

“We are really excited about this and all the other events coming up in the run-up to carnival,” she said.

“Because we have three more volunteers on the committee this year, we have organised more exciting fundraising events in 2018.

“We have a quiz and fish and chips supper at the Polish Club, Waterworks Road, on September 15, which is being run by Trowbridge Wessex Mead Rotary.

“We have a ladies’ night on September 29 at the Wesley Road Club and we also had a very successful bingo night earlier this year. The more people we get the more ideas we can bring to the table.

“On Saturday, there are lots of exciting things to do but I am looking forward to the last man standing challenge.”

With around six weeks to go until arguably the biggest event on the town’s calendar, preparations for the event will be bolstered by what they can raise from Saturday’s event at Trowbridge Park. Email maryrosemantle@gmail.com for information.
