VISITORS to Wiltshire Music Centre in Bradford on Avon will be able to enjoy performances in its 20th anniversary year with help from new auditorium lighting.
The centre has upgrading its lighting with help from a £12,000 M&S Energy grant and support from Ashford Homes and Climate Friendly Bradford on Avon.
Chief executive Maud Saint-Sardos said: “We have replaced 20 year-old halogen lamps with a brand new LED system and installed new state-of-the-art lighting software.
“This will not only help to significantly improve the Centre’s energy efficiency and reduce our carbon footprint by a massive 84 per cent, but will also provide a breadth of new lighting capabilities, supporting a more diverse range of performances and opportunities for community use.”
With Bristol’s Colston Hall closed for re-development until 2020, its Fast Forward Festival has been relocated to the centre.
The three-day festival from November 23-25 begins with an Industry Symposium and includes a performance by Wiltshire special schools and BSO Resound, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s new disabled-led ensemble.
The performance will be the culmination of a two-month Creative Learning project providing nine music workshops in three local schools.
Derek Paravicini will headline an evening of impromptu piano performances, preceded by a keynote lecture from his mentor, composer and veteran music teacher, Adam Ockelford.
The finale is an Interactive Creative Day led by Zone Club, WMC’s monthly music group for young learning-disabled adults, and guest artists from the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
Ms Saint-Sardos added: “Wiltshire Music Centre’s vision is to maximise the opportunities for live music to inspire, enrich and transform people’s lives.
“We are extremely proud to present Fast Forward 2018 and celebrate some of the transformational projects and inspirational artists and practitioners helping to realise that vision for young disabled people in classrooms, communities and concert halls.”
