BATH City forward Martin Paul has signed for Chippenham Town for the third time, as Bluebirds boss Adie Mings looks to inject some experience into the squad.

The veteran frontman, who is Bath City's joint all-time top scorer has agreed to play for free.

He has a non-contract agreement with Bath City, meaning he can play for The Bluebirds provided the Twerton Park outfit do not need him.

The 33-year-old has turned down moves to several Southern League clubs this term, but has agreed to play for Chippenham as he is a friend of Mings.

There was some confusion over the move early on as when Mings suggested it and Paul agreed, Mings thought he was joking.

But when the Chippenham boss found out his friend really meant it, he quickly moved for the prolific striker, who was briefly at Hardenhuish Park last term.

The Bluebirds boss wants Paul to help his strikers improve their movement in the box and keep their composure when an opportunity comes their way.

Mings said: "He's just come in to help us out and work with the strikers.

"He will lend us a little bit of his experience especially in and around the box."

The Chippenham manager is also hoping Paul will chip in with a few goals.

Mings said: "He's a clinical finisher and we can introduce him off the bench in the last 15 minutes in tight games."

The Bluebirds manager gave his backing to his other forwards, who have found their goalscoring form in the last two games.

Mings said: "They've not done much wrong. We've had a few extra sessions on finishing so they can practice hitting the net.

"Hopefully the confidence is back for them now."

Paul made his debut under Mings on Saturday when he came on for last five minutes against Yate Town.

The veteran striker has been signed for Chippenham by previous bosses Darren Perrin and Tommy Saunders.
