A NATIONWIDE competition to find talented unsigned musicians to play on stage at Glastonbury this year was launched in Bradford on Avon yesterday.
Share a Stage at Glastonbury is being organised by children's cancer charity CLIC Sargent and aims to find a young, talented musician or band to play this summer at Glastonbury Festival.
The competition was launched at St Laurence School with music from Bradford on Avon band The Volt and electric violinist Linzi Stoppard, who is one half of FUSE.
They performed to an audience made up of St Laurence School's music pupils and a group of young people from the area who are supported by CLIC Sargent.
James Colquhoun, headmaster of St Laurence School, said: "As a specialist performing arts school St Laurence is delighted to be hosting Share a Stage at Glastonbury in support of CLIC Sargent.
"We are very proud of our past and present music students, some of whom have performed at the festival in recent years.
"To get the chance to play on the Late n Live stage is a great opportunity for young musicians."
Share a Stage is open to 13-24 year olds who are part of a band or a practising musician of any genre.
Entrants need to upload a short film of themselves playing either alone or with their band onto YouTube by May 5.
Top music industry professionals, including the team that has run the festival's Emerging Talent competition in previous years, will then decide on the winner who will get to play on the Late n Live stage at Glastonbury and share a slot with FUSE.
