Tea rooms win top award

A TEA room in Bradford on Avon has been awarded an Award of Excellence in the UK Tea Council's coveted Top Tea Place 2008 awards.

The Bridge Tea Rooms has won this famous award following a incognito visit by Tea Guild inspectors.

They have secretly taken tea in tearooms and hotels across the UK and awarded points for the variety and quality of the teas offered, together with excellent service, décor, ambience, presentation and value for money.

The judges were so impressed with the quality of the afternoon tea served at The Bridge Tea Rooms that they awarded them high marks in every category.

Commenting on The Bridge Tea Rooms, Irene Gorman, head of The Tea Guild, said: "Competition is intense and rigorous.This Award of Excellence was presented in recognition of their consistently high standards of tea making, as evident in the care and attentiveness with which they prepare and serve afternoon tea."

"The exceptional quality and choice of world-wide teas, plus first-class tea making expertise, superb food and conscientious service, were what impressed judges the most and gained top marks for this year's winners."
