AN event is being held in Westbury to give locals an insight into beekeeping.
West Wiltshire Beekeepers are organising the free event on Wednesday April 23 at the Methodist Church Hall in Station Road.
Membership of the British Beekeeper's Association is now more than 10,000 - higher than it has been for about years and the hobby is enjoying a resurgence of interest in the UK.
Besides producing honey and wax, bees provide an essential pollination service for farmers and gardeners.
It has been estimated that honeybees contribute about £800m, directly and indirectly, to the national economy.
The purpose of the Westbury event, which starts at 7.30pm, is to provide a window into beekeeping.
There will be a display of hives, clothing, smokers and other beekeeping equipment which can be handled and examined.
Experts will be on hand to explain and to answer questions.
