EFFORTS are being made to ensure the safety of a Chippenham man after Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service was called to fires at his home twice in two days.
Two appliances from Chippenham and one from Corsham went to the ground floor flat in Little Englands at around 5pm yesterday and again at around 1pm today.
On both occasions, crews had to use breathing apparatus to rescue the wheelchair-bound occupant.
Investigations are continuing into the cause of the fires, the first having been contained in the living room and the second in the bathroom.
The man suffered smoke inhalation in both incidents and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service is now liaising with a range of agencies, including North Wiltshire District Council, Wiltshire County Council, Wiltshire Police and Westlea Housing Association, to try and ensure the man's safety in the future.
Firefighters have also carried out home fire safety checks at neighbouring properties to reassure other residents.
