School joins fitness initiative

A HEALTH club, town council and primary school have joined forces to launch a six-week project focusing on fitness and food.

Clubhealth in Union Street has linked up with Trowbridge Town Council to launch the Eat 4 Fitness, Fit 2 Play scheme at The Grove Primary School.

The project, which launched on May 1, will see Year 5 pupils learn more about their bodies and eating habits, learn how to cook, as well as take part in an hour's play or exercise.

Hayley Bell, sales manager at Clubhealth, who came up with the idea, said: "I felt I needed to help children to learn to look at exercise and food in a fun way which will engage them.

"If we can educate them now we will have an active generation and this will help to reduce child and adulthood obesity.

"The children at The Grove were a pleasure to work with and seeing them learning and at the same time enjoying themselves brings a great level of satisfaction."

Mark Fletcher, of Oxfam, visited the school during the launch week and talked about Fairtrade.

The project has been sponsored by Asda.
