DEBRIS from a bank slipping onto a village road near Westbury is an accident waiting to happen, according to a concerned resident.
Bryan White, 66, of Bury Lane, Bratton noticed the slippage in Court Lane back in February, and is concerned that despite notifying the local authority no action has been taken three months on.
Mr White said he contacted Wiltshire County Council on February 14 and emailed them again in March when no action had been taken.
The council's highways department then contacted Bratton Parish Council to say it could do nothing to shore up the spillage until it stops.
Mr White said the response from the council has been unsatisfactory and is concerned the slippage will lead to an accident.
He said: "The council's response is akin to saying we will wait for an earthquake.
"The worst case scenario is that a bus full of school kids will come around the corner and there will be a collision.
"If there is an accident other vehicles will have nowhere to go, as there is no room."
Bodmans Coaches use Court Lane for a number of their bus and coach routes, including school buses to the John of Gaunt School, St Augustine's Catholic College and Clarendon College in Trowbridge, Lavington School and Dauntsey School.
Mr White believes the slippage may have been caused by greensand, which is an olive- coloured sandstone rock that can slump in wet weather.
Mr White said: "The whole of the north of the Salisbury Plain suffers from greensand and when it gets saturated in the winter it slumps down.
"All the council has done is put bollards up which only exacerbates the situation because vehicles have less room. The council say their resources are stretched but why is it we continue to pay higher and higher rates of council tax?"
A spokesman for Wiltshire County Council said the authority took highway safety very seriously.
He said: "Experts have investigated the situation at Court Lane in Bratton and at preset are satisfied with the safety at this location. We will continue to monitor the area."
Bodmans Coaches said none of their drivers had reported the slippage in Court Lane to management.

Someone once said there is nothing like a war to do the economy good. I think you can replace war with disaster.. You can bet our companies see £££££££ in China. Look at all those houses needing to be rebuilt, roads, cars, etc etc. This is going to be great for our economy as we suck their foreign reserves dry, the reserves that were doubtless going to be used to basically buy out UK PLC wholesale anyway. They are both enormous human tradegies though, the news shows that to anyone with a heart.

I think you will find it is the other way around. With hardly a thing in the shops that is not made in China these days and a massive bill to pay putting the damage right the price of Cheap Chinese goods will rocket on top of our own price that we are paying for our illegal jollies around the globe
