Forecasters issue storm warning

THE Met Office is warning drivers in Wiltshire to be alert to the possibility of torrential rain and thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow.

The weather agency has issued a yellow warning for the county, which advises people to 'be aware' of the potential for severe weather.

Up to 25mm of rain could fall in the worst affected areas.

The warning said: "There is a moderate risk of a severe event affecting parts of southern England."

The Highways Agency has also issued a warning for drivers to take care on roads throughout the south and south west if severe weather materialises.

Drivers are being advised to check forecasts before they set out, with surface water likely to affect motorways and major A roads.
