A GROUP from Chernobyl will visit Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service's Potterne headquarters tonight.
The eight 10 years old girls, who are all suffering from illnesses caused by the Chernobyl disaster in 1986, have been selected by the Chernobyl government to receive essential healthcare in the UK.
The Manor House and its grounds will host a farewell party for the girls and their families, who have been staying in England or several weeks.
As well as enjoying games, face painting and party food, the girls will be visited by the crew from Devizes fire station, who will provide the group with goodie bags containing gifts such as toiletries, trinkets and accessories.
Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service's Melanie Jezzard, who has organised the party at Potterne, said: "All of the girls are suffering from terminal illness and many of them have lost members of their immediate family through critical illnesses caused by the fatal incident that happened in Chernobyl in 1986."

I cannot begin to imagine walking 1 mile in their shoes.
