THE BRADFORD on Avon Arts Festival is creating a bubble of excitement across the county with two weeks of the weird and wonderful.
A ghost walk, hot air balloons, a street party, a jungle road show of creepy crawlies, concerts, parades and fireworks are just a small selection of the many events in the town from September 12 - 21.
Included in the programme is a 'Walk on Water' event where people are invited to try walking in giant balls across water, meanwhile in Westbury Gardens the science department at the City of Bath College will be blowing giant bubbles.
An Arts Indulgence Day with wine and a choice of workshops such as watercolours, painting and pastels, takes place on September 20 at St Margaret's Hall from 10am to 4.30pm.
Tickets for the all-day event cost £37 and includes lunch and wine. Call 01225 865797.
A night of 'kite riding' and Chinese food is in store for families when students from St Laurence School will be dramatising scenes from the book The Kite Rider, written by the award-winning children's writer Geraldine McCaughrean, Families will be invited to tuck into their favourite Chinese dishes as they watch the performance at Bradford on Avon Library on September 12 at 8pm.
A free copy of The Kite Rider will be available to the first 10 families who order tickets.
For more details contact the library on 01225 863280.
The festival, which is based on the theme of Elements this year, is an annual event organised by the independent Bradford on Avon Arts Festival Committee.
The Happening on Sunday September 14 is expected to encompass all elements of earth, air, fire and water in a mirage throughout the town with live camels and sand dunes.
For more details on all of the events pick up a brochure from the Tourist Information Office in Westbury Gardens or call 01225 865797.
JAPANESE poems, known as a Haiku, are needed for this year's Arts Festival in Bradford on Avon.
A Haiku poem is designed to capture a moment in your life and is usually written in three short lines, which can be read aloud in six seconds.
Entries should be based on the theme of earth, water, air and fire as part of the elements themed Arts Festival festivities in the town from September 12.
Poems need to be handed in to Bradford on Avon Library by September 6, although late entries will also be considered up until September 12.
