POLICE are linking two separate break-ins at a supermarket in as many days.

On Friday at about 4am, thieves smashed one of the glass double doors at the Tesco Express store in Lodge Road, Chippenham.

The made off with a crate of beer and a bottle of wine leaving £500 worth of damage behind them.

The next day staff boarded up the broken door panel, but at around 5am the second glass panel was smashed and again thieves broke in and stole two bottles of wine and a packet of crisps.

In total £1,000 worth of damage was caused to the door.

However, the shop was open for business this week.

Police are linking the two incidents and want anyone with relevant information to come forward and call PC Al Wilkinson at Chippenham police station on 0845 408 7000.

Not quite the Great Train Robbery, is it? I suppose Chippenham's Finest are looking for a glazier who eats crisps?

"The next day staff boarded up the broken door panel"

Well fair play to the staff for boarding it up. But surely Tesco can afford a glazier to do a secure job and maybe prevent the second breakin!

Nice that PC Wilkinson said "you can call me Al"!!
