THE owners of a Bradford on Avon pub renowned for hosting live music have organised a series of farewell gigs as they prepare to travel the world.

Julie and Jim Lynch, who met at The George pub in Woolley Street six years ago and married in 2005, will be leaving the venue at the end of November .

Mr Lynch said: “We’re going to take a month off to clear our heads. Then after Christmas we’re going to travel the world and find our new adventure.

“The lease is up for renewal and we’re at a crossroads. It’s a tough trade to be in and we always knew we’d move on at some point and that time has come.

“But we’re passing the lease on to a couple who are very interested in music and that’s why they want to be at The George, and that’s good for all concerned.

“We have fond memories. We’re glad to have made a difference within local music and we’ll be sad to leave our regulars behind.”

The founders of the Woolley Street Festival have organised four gigs to say goodbye to everyone in the town and surrounding area. Tomorrow is a folk & blues’ with Ray Bradfield and support.

On Saturday November 8 The George hosts an Amnesty benefit featuring Mike Scott, Julian Sims, Dave Vigar, Abi Leeder and Jim Lynch. Admission is £3.

More than 30 of the owners’ friends from across Europe will be coming to play on Saturday November 15 from 2pm, and finally, on Sunday November 23, the Venezuelan Pig Rustlers are fronting a music jam from 3pm.
