BARRY Corr will put festive fun to one side this Christmas as he focuses on scoring the goals to fire Swindon Town back to the right end of the League One table.

The injury-plagued Irishman is hoping to make his latest comeback in tomorrow’s crucial clash with West Country rivals Yeovil, should there be no reaction to the calf tear that has kept him out since the 2-2 draw with Bristol Rovers.

Corr, pictured left, knows the next few months are crucial in his bid to secure a new County Ground contract, and he is determined to prove his fitness to any remaining doubters.

“People look at it and think Barry Corr is getting injured again, and I can see where they are coming from,” he said.

“People get frustrated, but I can tell you I get more frustrated than anyone. It hurts me more than anyone else.

“I have to go home and think about it 24/7, and it gets me down.

“I have been fit for most of the season though and this is the first real niggle I have got.

“That’s to be expected when you come back from a long-term injury like I have.

“The Christmas period is busy and some people complain about it, but I want to be playing football all the time.

“I don’t mind making a few sacrifices at this time of year if it means playing more games.”

Corr’s comeback has coincided with Billy Paynter’s suspension, with caretaker boss Dave Byrne forced to shuffle his forward line.

Corr scored the winner against the Glovers at Huish Park last season, and will be hoping to emulate that at the County Ground tomorrow.

“Yeovil are a decent side, they are down in the same position as us but it wasn’t long ago they were pushing for promotion,” he said.

“The league table doesn’t lie though.

“We have not been good enough this season, and we need to do better. Both ourselves and Yeovil deserve to be where they are.

“We beat them last season around this time of year, and we’ll be looking to do that again.

“My coming back has coincided with Billy’s suspension. Obviously I didn’t want him to get sent off, but if it gives me a chance I will try and grab it.”
