Wiltshire bustards fly free on Plain

A group of 17 Great Bustard chicks brought over from Russia at the end of July have been released into the wilds of Salisbury Plain.

They are the latest to be set free by the Great Bustard Group in a project to reintroduce them to Britain, where they became extinct in the 1830s.

Wonderful news, with the arrival in June this year of three "home grown" chicks the magnificent work of the Great Bustard Group goes from strength to strength to re-instate the bird in it's homeland the county of Wiltshire.
