10-year-old knitting club makes appeal for new members

Corsham Knitting and Crochet Club, which celebrated its 10 year anniversary last year, is looking for new members to join the group and help with its charity efforts.

The club, which makes items for various charitable causes, is hoping new members will come and join them on the first Thursday of every month, from 10am to 12noon.

Members have set themselves a challenge of making 100 children’s hats for a school in Mali, West Africa, by March and knitted jumpers for children in orphanages run by Aid Ukraine.

At the moment, the group has 100 members; normally about 60 attend each meeting, but the cold weather has meant the number of people attending has dropped, with only nine turning up to the January meeting.

The meetings are held at Corsham Community Centre and everyone is welcome to go along with their mug and £2 towards refreshments (the rest is provided).

For more information call Margaret Gibbs on 01225 810621.
