Warminster store staff going batty

Girls’ and women’s cricket teams in Warminster will benefit after a shop chose the town’s cricket club as its charity of the year.

The Original Factory Shop, held its first event for the club, whose home ground is in Sambourne Road, on Saturday, with employees dressing in keep fit gear, selling raffle tickets and taking around collection buckets.

Martyn Hutton, chairman of the club’s youth section, was at the shop, along with some young players. He said the £270 raised would go towards equipment, kit and travel costs, for the club’s two girls’ teams and one senior women’s team, the only one in Wiltshire.

He said: “We can’t thank the store enough. The girls’ teams will be playing for the first time in a league this summer.”
