Maths genius Tabby Burgess came 48th in a world maths competition beating more than 1.1 million children to the Hall of Fame.
The 13-year-old of St Thomas Road in Trowbridge came eighth in Britain and 48th for the age nine to 13-year-old category when competing in World Maths Day as one of 1,133,246 students across 235 countries.
She scored 25,381 points for answers.
Tabby, an Emmaus student, took part against students across the world via a computer to answer five levels of maths questions, beginning with simple adding and subtracting before getting to complex questions involving multiplying and subtracting.
The year eight pupil picked up a silver medal from Jayne Warburton from the UK World Maths Day team on Monday.
She said: “I was a bit nervous about picking up the award in front of the whole of assembly. I’m very proud of the award. My parents who have helped me practice before the event are really proud of me too.”
“I do enjoy bits of maths but some of it I find challenging like equations.”
She competed against other students in games that lasted a minute at a time.
Each player was allowed to get three wrong answers in each game before they were out.
