Children at The Grove Primary School in Trowbridge donned their party hats in celebration of the school’s 40th anniversary last week.
Pupils from every class celebrated the end of the school’s 40th year with a party, with the infants having parties in their classrooms while the junior school had a street party in the grounds.
Headteacher Alastair Ponsford said: “It was a lovely day for the children, a great way to end our 40th anniversary celebrations.”
The event, the latest in a long line of celebrations during the academic year, included a presentation from Friends of Grove School.
Mr Ponsford said: “As part of our 40th birthday the Friends of the School presented us with a cheque for £8,000, which they had raised through different events including car boot sales and discos.”
The money will go towards furnishing the school’s new library space, which was completed during the last summer holidays.
The cheque will cover the cost of bookshelves as well as a computerised library system and hundreds of books. The library is expected to be ready for pupils to use by October this year.
