Youngsters quizzed over Wiltshire library services

Youngsters quizzed over Wiltshire library services Youngsters quizzed over Wiltshire library services

Children and young people in Wiltshire are being asked to have their say on the service their library provides for them.

Wiltshire Council will be providing questionnaires for children aged 15 and under in 16 of its libraries from 27 September to 2 October.

The survey will take place in Aldbourne, Box, Chippenham, Corsham, Devizes, Ludgershall, Marlborough, Melksham, Purton, Salisbury, Tisbury, Tidworth, Trowbridge, Warminster, Wilton and Wootton Bassett libraries.

These libraries have been chosen because they represent a range of communities and different sized libraries.

Staff in the libraries will be on hand to help fill the questionnaires out, and parents and carers of younger children will be asked to complete the survey on their child’s behalf.

It is hoped the council will find out how children currently use its libraries and discover how satisfied they are with the services.

Sarah Hillier, county children’s and young people’s librarian, said: “I am looking forward to seeing the results and reading the comments raised in the questionnaires. It will be especially interesting to find out why and how children and young people use our libraries and how we are helping them with their reading, homework and other areas of their lives.”

The survey is based on a national model, children’s PLUS, and is being conducted in libraries throughout England. The survey is conducted every three years.

My grand children loved the reading challenges over the holidays, encouraging kids to read is worthwhile surely.I think we are very lucky with the services provided by all of these libraries, sadly i am not under 15 anymore though.
