A man has been warned he faces a jail term after admitting driving a car which had been taken without consent dangerously and while over the limit.
Stephen Sims, of Frogmore Road, Westbury, has been banned from the road after admitting a string of offences in relation to the incident in Trowbridge.
The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated taking without consent when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court on Friday.
Sims also admitted driving with excess alcohol, otherwise than in accordance with a licence and not having insurance.
He was behind the wheel of a 52-reg Honda Civic without the consent of the owner on October 29 last year.
He drove it dangerously along College Road, Bradley Road, County Way, Newtown and Bradford Road in Trowbridge.
Anne Ellery, defending, asked for the case to be adjourned to allow the probation service to compile a pre-sentence report.
She also asked for an interim disqualification so Sims can start serving the inevitable driving ban immediately.
Judge Euan Ambrose agreed and released him on bail until Friday, March 2, when he is due to face sentence.
But he said: "The fact that I am granting you bail an ordering a report does not mean that this won’t be a prison sentence.
"It is a serious matter; it is a very bad piece of driving. You should prepare yourself for that eventuality: I am sure you have been advised of that."
