Mum and daughter with grand designs

2:58pm Friday 6th October 2006

THE ultimate in unique matching accessories are being offered by a mother and daughter team from Trowbridge.

Amanda Perryer, 23, and her mum Andrea, 50, who have opened a shop in Bath, make bags for all occasions and can even make one in the same material as an outfit to really get the match right.

Miss Perryer, of Fulney Close, Trowbridge, said: "There are just two or three bag manufacturers left in the country. We offer something that is unique and completely personalised and we can embroider a special message such as happy anniversary' on the inside of the bag."

The pair make the handbags from Thai silk, sourced themselves and have just opened their own shop, The Perryer Collection, in Walcot Street.

Miss Perryer was born in Hong Kong but was raised in Singapore from the age of four and the Far East has provided inspiration for much of her work.

The family moved to Trowbridge six years ago and Miss Perryer studied art and fashion at Wiltshire College Trowbridge, where she discovered her passion and talent for making bags.

After college she decided she wanted to set up her own business rather than going to art school despite the advice from everyone around her.

Over the past two years mother and daughter have been working from their home in Trowbridge, selling their handbags online.

They decided to set up a shop as they felt it important that people were able to see the bags and feel the fabrics and were thrilled to find premises in Walcot Street.

Customers can have bags custom-made to suit their requirements and each is an exclusive. They work in the shop during the day and spend their evenings in their workshop in Trowbridge.
