Runners from across Wiltshire have completed the Bath Half Marathon, raising thousands of pounds for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Helicopter paramedics Luke MacCallum and Louise Cox were among those who signed up.

The 23-strong team, helped by Bath Building Society and Devizes-based 5ADay Box, were very visible in bright yellow vests, raising more than £5,000.

The air ambulance is dependent on money from the public and needs to raise at least £700,000 each year to cover its costs.

Staff from H Merrett Funeral Directors, in Pickwick Road, Corsham, ran in support of Julian House and the NSPCC.

Aaron Bewley completed the course in two hours and 20 minutes, closely followed by colleague Leanne Thomas in two hours and 25 minutes. They each raised £300.

Mr Bewley said: “The weather on the day was fantastic and the support from the crowd was amazing.

“It really spurred us on and it was a lovely event to take part in, supporting two worthwhile good causes.”

Bradford on Avon mayor Peter Leach ran for Leonard Cheshire Disability, which supports thousands of disabled people in the UK and overseas.

Through his JustGiving site, he raised more than £350 in sponsorship for the charity.
