Wiltshire charity Action on Addiction has received a £31,521 grant to employ a new specialist family counsellor at its East Knoyle headquarters.

The charity, which was recently adopted for patronage by the Duchess of Cambridge, is based in Clouds House, but also has a treatment centre in Warminster.

Awarded by the St James’ Place Foundation, the money will fund a counsellor to help addicts and their families over three years.

Head of service Tina Mobsby said: “Supporting a close friend or relative who is suffering from addiction can leave people feeling anxious and exhausted.

“Our family counsellors help them to understand and cope with the changes that are taking place, providing the support they need to deal with their own feelings about their relative’s addiction.

“We are extremely grateful to the foundation for its generous grant, which will ensure family counselling continues to form an integral part of the treatment process here at Clouds House.”
