Super charity toddle in Corsham
9:28am Tuesday 19th June 2012 in News
Barnardo’s Big Toddle, a charity sponsored walk for the under fives, is taking place at Corsham Cricket Club, in Station Road, at 10.30am tomorrow (Wednesday).
Staff from the charity’s Corsham Sure Start Children’s Centre have encouraged parents and children to dress up in superhero theme as their favourite characters wearing capes and masks to make the event truly memorable.
Last year’s event saw children from Wiltshire raising more than £6,600 towards a regional total of more than £50,000.
Barnardo’s play worker Stephanie Scholtz said: “We are now into our 15th annual Toddle. This year our theme is superheroes, so children can have even more fun dressing up.
“They can even put their teddy bears into costumes as well and then celebrate with a picnic afterwards. Every penny raised goes directly to our work with under fives – so everyone can enjoy themselves and help raise vital funds for less fortunate children.”
Managed by Barnardo’s on behalf of Wiltshire Council, Corsham Sure Start Children’s Centre is based in Kings Avenue.
It covers not only the town but also the neighbouring villages of Box, Colerne, Yatton Keynell, Kington St Michael and Lacock.
The service provides free support to local parents and carers of under fives, including a young parents group, parenting programmes, antenatal clinics, health visitor clinics, stay-and-play sessions and a sensory room.
