Wiltshire acts confirmed for Salisbury Olympic Torch party

Singers, bands, musicians, dancers and free runners from across Wiltshire will be performing at the Wiltshire 2012 Festival of Celebration in Salisbury on July 11 July.

Twelve acts have been chosen from the Shine 4 Wiltshire competition to perform at the festival including the winners, Salisbury Plain Military Wives Choir.

Rapper Wretch 32 will headline the event at Hudson's Field, to celebrate the Olympic Torch passing through the county.

A fireworks display will round things off.

Among the performances will be a showcase of some of the big numbers from "Revolution! The Musical".

The show was created in Corsham by composer Nicholas Keyworth and lyricist Michael Wilkinson, and features a strong local cast and live band. The musical tells one man’s story as he fights for love, hope and freedom against the backdrop of the Bosnian War in 1993.

Jane Scott, leader of Wiltshire Council, said: "The competition has really shown the amount of talent Wiltshire has to offer, and we are so excited we will have them performing at the Wiltshire 2012 Festival of Celebration."
