A new sixth form block at Clarendon College in Trowbridge has been named after an inspirational maths teacher.

Adrian Green taught at the Frome Road school for 30 years, and was assistant head of the sixth form before joining the school’s senior leadership team. This week he helped opened the Adrian Green Sixth Form Centre.

Deputy head Catherine Szabo said: “He has made his mark on the school and ensured that his colleagues are kept on their toes with his legendary attention to detail.

“But whatever his official role in school his true genius has been his passion for the subject he teaches and his ability to translate this into a love of the subject in all the young people he has taught.

“Hundreds of students who have passed through Clarendon have benefitted through his approach to teaching mathematics and it should be mandatory that all newcomers into the profession spend time observing his genius at work.

“His real strength have been the personal qualities he has shared with his students and colleagues. He is generous man, in practice and in spirit, with a great sense of humour.

“He will be sorely missed, and, a sobriquet which is much overused, truly is a legend.”
