Volunteers needed for Corsham Bloom duty

Corsham Town Council is calling for volunteers to support its South West in Bloom entry this year.

Organisers of Corsham’s display want to hear from anyone prepared to spare an hour to help with dead-heading, weeding and general tidying in preparation for South West in Bloom judges’ visit, on Tuesday, July 17.

The council wants to keep up its recent successes in the competition, after the town was awarded silver in 2009 and silver gilt in 2010, as well as its first gold award, in the Sargent Cup category, last year.

Community and information officer Sharon Thomas said: “We are looking for people to come forward, who can donate about an hour of their time, in the build-up to the judges visiting Corsham. From Monday, July 9, is when the volunteers would be needed.

“We are really hoping to do well yet again this year. I think it is also important to stress that the volunteers would be making Corsham a better place for everyone to live, not just for the judges. Any help would be enormously appreciated.”
