Paramedics found a 72-year-old Corsham man lying injured on the ground after he went missing last night.

Terence Cowcher was supposed to visit family yesterday (Sunday) for dinner at 5.30pm but failed to arrive.

He had been seen earlier in the day at his home and was intending to visit.

His disappearance sparked a hunt by the Wiltshire Search and Rescue team and Wiltshire Police, but it was paramedics from the Great Western Ambulance Service who located him at 7am on Monday.

Mr Cowcher was taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath for treatment for a dislocated shoulder.

A Great Western Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We received a 999 call at 7.02am from someone in their home in Corsham reporting a man who was on the ground outside. She indicated she believed he was breathing.

A paramedic in a rapid-response vehicle was on scene at 7.08am, notified that patient had dislocated shoulder and requested a back-up ambulance crew. That arrived at 7.23am and took the patient to RUH."

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: "He's ok and he's safe but he is currently being assessed."

Earlier, Inspector Paul Hawkins of Wiltshire Police said: "This is extremely out of character for Terence, he is described as a creature of habit and his family and police are very worried about him."
