Trowbridge's Civic Service and Celebration took place last Sunday evening, preceded by a procession through the town centre.

In the afternoon, mayor John Knight hosted a cream tea at Trowbridge Civic Centre for guests including a twinning party from Leer, Germany. Trowbridge Marching Band then led dignitaries on a parade through the park and to the church.

Cllr Knight said: “It was the first time we’ve paraded through the town like that and it was quite enjoyable. I think the band made it quite something.”

The service, taken by the Rev Dr Rob Thomas, was attended by the visitors from Germany, including Leer’s mayor, deputy mayor and councillors, and groups from Trowbridge including the Cubs, Scouts and Air Cadets.

Cllr Knight said: “It was very well attended, I was very pleased, we had all sorts of groups there. The service included young people who all took part and made it a really special occasion.

“The other thing was we combined it with the St James’ Trust, who give out cheques to various charities and had invited them along, as well as my nominated charities.”
