The family of Trowbridge stabbing victim Shaun Hulbert have paid an emotional tribute to him following his death last Saturday at Bristol Royal Infirmary.

Mr Hulbert, 26, of Aldeburgh Place, in Trowbridge, had his family by his hospital bedside at the time of his death.

He was rushed to hospital in a critical condition after collapsing at his home on Sunday, August 12, following complications in his recovery  from being stabbed in the chest during an incident outside Manor House Flats on Frome Road on Tuesday, July 24 when he needed emergency surgery to save his life.

His mother Kate said: "I brought Shaun home to our house in Studley Green when he was three days old and he has lived in this area all of his life. All of his friends and family live in the neighbourhood.

“Shaun has always had lots of friends but the time when he was the most happy and relaxed was when he was fishing. I have been taking him fishing since he was a little boy of four years old and he shared this love of fishing with his step-dad.

“I am heartbroken that Shaun is gone. We were able to be with him in hospital so he wasn't alone. He died with all of his family around him. He was close to all of his brothers, his Nan and Granddad and his girlfriend, who will all miss him greatly.

“We ask all of his friends and the people in Studley Green to please respect our privacy at this difficult time as we deal with this terrible loss of a son, grandson, boyfriend and friend."

Shane Gulliver, 33, of Navigator Close, Hilperton, had been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent in relation to the stabbing.

He remains in custody and is due to appear at Salisbury Crown Court at a later date.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “Detectives will be speaking to the Crown Prosecution Service to determine the appropriate next step.”
