PEELS of bells rang out from Christ Church in Bradford on Avon as the Christ Church Primary School celebrated its 30th May Fair on Bank Holiday Monday.
Dozens of former pupils and staff returned to the school to mark the occasion and children's author Jeremy Strong, who has recently moved to the town, cut a special cake.
The school itself is actually 50 years old this year and a display of cuttings tracing the history of the Berryfield Road site and old school photos welcomed visitors as they entered the school's grounds.
The Friends of Christ Church School (FOCCS) presented a £10,000 cheque to headmaster Neil Baker, which they raised over the last year to pay for new play equipment that was installed last week.
Mr Baker said: "It's a great event that brings the community and the school together.
"We've been very lucky with the weather, we like it when it rains the previous day because it means nobody goes away for the weekend.

"We've tried to create more things that the children have done themselves this year rather than just fund raising stalls."
The school's 120-strong choir performed original versions of traditional nursery rhymes from a new CD they have made called Universary Rhymes along with Jaspre Bark, Jason Rebello and The Grateful Dads band.
Justine Rebello, of FOCCS, said: "The £10,000 from FOCCS paid for all the play equipment and was raised through the May Fair and a promise auction we held."
