Man arrested after drugs raid

A 40-YEAR-OLD man from Kington St Michael man was arrested this morning after police raided a house in the Chippenham village for drugs.

The man was arrested under the Misuse of Drugs Act on suspicion of possession and cultivation of a controlled drug and suspicion of money laundering.

He is currently in Melksham police station pending further investigation.

Today's operation, involving officers from Corsham and Chippenham, followed weeks of intelligence gathering by the local Neighbourhood Policing Team.

PC Heather Barham, community beat manager for Chippenham Rural North Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "We are pleased with the results of this operation and with the co-operation we have recieved from the local community."

Anyone with any information on drug offenders should call Wiltshire police on 0845 4087000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
