Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service is urging anyone looking to hold a celelbratory 2012 event to plan ahead.

Whether marking the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee or corresponding with the Olympic torch relay as it comes through Wiltshire, the county will be enjoying a host of street parties, fetes and other events over the coming months.

Group Manager Ian Rennie said: "Businesses, charities and other organisations are all gearing up to hold a range of activities to celebrate this remarkable year.

"We want them to have happy, successful and safe events, and there is a wealth of advice available to help with your planning."

The service's website – www.wiltsfire.gov.uk – has a special 2012 Celebration section, which includes advice on holding outdoor events, writing risk assessments, firework safety and much more.

There are also links to other relevant advice, such as road closures for street parties and licensing implications.

Mr Rennie said: "2012 should be a glorious year for local people, and the advice is there on our website for anyone wanting to hold any form of public celebration. With a bit of pre-planning, we can all enjoy ourselves!"
