A COLLECTIVE art project from around 60 groups and individuals in Atworth will be unveiled next month.

The Atworth Community Painting sees the groups come together to create a painting made up of 60 canvases, one from each of the contributors, in celebration of the Queen’s diamond jubilee.

Each panel has a motif of the Queen’s head in head white or blue.

An unveiling of the project is now being planned for June 2 at Atworth Village Hall.

Project organiser Mavis King said: “It has been a truly amazing four months.

Members of all Atworth organisations, including the primary school, farms, church groups, the village pub etc have provided representatives willing to attend one or two art sessions and each complete a small canvas depicting their organisation, or their local involvement.”

  • A jubilee banner welcoming the Queen to Salisbury Cathedral last week was designed by Year 10 students from Matravers School in Westbury, while banners made by pupils at Corsham School were also on show in the cathedral.
