Council leader in shock exit
4:02pm Friday 4th May 2007 in News By Craig Evry
Sarah Content
ANOTHER election upset rocked west Wiltshire as the council's leader Sarah Content was thrashed in the local elections.
Standing for Melksham Without ward, Cllr Content, who took over control of the council in 2005, was beaten into sixth place in the three-seat ward.
It was another clean sweep for the Tories with Rod Eaton, former treasurer Roy While and Richard Wiltshire victorious.
Cllr Content only polled 310 votes compared to the 861 polled by winner Cllr Wiltshire.
James McGee, who fought Wiltshire County Council over cuts to his wife's care, enlisting the support of the Prime Minister's wife Cherie Blair, was among those not to win a seat.
