Town council election shocks in West Wilts

TOWN council elections in west Wiltshire produced numerous shocks with several mayors and ex-mayors left out in the cold.

In Warminster, controversial town councillor John Syme (Lib Dem) lost his seat, while his ex-wife Pip Ridout (Con) was elected for the first time.

Warminster Town Council is now entirely Conservative apart from one Lib Dem councillor.

The mayor of Melksham, Margaret White (Lab) was another high-profile casualty as Labour suffered yet more losses. Town councillors Geoff Mitcham (Lab) and Davina Griffin (Lab) both lost their seats on Melksham Town Council too.

On Trowbridge Town Council former mayors Grace Hill (Lib Dem), Glyn Bridges (Lib Dem) and Angela Milroy (Lib Dem) lost their seats.
