Singer Frankie Martin has been in Wiltshire as part of a mammoth tour to raise money for Help for Heroes.

Mr Martin is performing every day for a year throughout the UK and has so far raised £67,000.

He was born at an RAF hospital in Lincolnshire as his father served in the RAF.

He began his tour in April and last week performed at The Wiltshire Yeoman pub in Chirton, The Angel at Heytesbury, the Cross Keys, Great Bedwyn and The Three Horseshoes at Chapmanslade.

Mr Martin sings the songs of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole and Michael Buble.

He hopes the tour will raise £100,000 for Help for Heroes.

Mr Martin, from Nottingham, said: “There’s never been a more important time for a charity like Help for Heroes.

“Servicemen and women are ordinary people doing an extraordinary job. If you have been injured doing your duty the least the country can do is look after you. I’m so pleased with the amount raised during the tour. Even in these difficult times the British pub goer is still digging deep.”

Money has also come from an annual inter-Lodge skittles match at which Devizes Masons raised £297.70.

The annual event between Fidelity and Moonraker Lodges was held at Devizes Conservative Club in October.

Moonraker won 465-420 to hold on to the Mike Woods Challenge Shield for yet another year.
