Drunk drive leads to ban for Bradford on Avon 72-year-old
2:00pm Sunday 8th September 2013 in Bradford
A 72-year-old caught drink driving in Bradford on Avon has claimed he never wants to drive again, after being disqualified for 18 months.
William Morris, of Bradford Leigh, was stopped by a police officer in the car park of Jones Convenience Store on March 14, when he was found to have 68mg of alcohol per 100ml in his breath, almost twice the legal limit.
He pleaded guilty to drink driving at North West Wiltshire Magistrates’ Court, where he admitted he had been drinking heavily the night before, and had finished a glass of vodka that morning.
He was fined £160 and refused the offer of a drink drive rehabilitation course.
When told he would be banned from the road until February 2015 he remarked: “Well, I won’t still be here by then, will I?”, while his solicitor stated he “never, ever, ever wanted to drive again”.
